These flashcards have been carefully created with dyslexic kids in mind. Please understand, I am not an Orton-Gillingham professional!
I am a homeschool mom with a very dyslexic little boy. He struggled to learn the alphabet, and after a year of not being able to remember hardly any of the letters, I started using tactics like these.
He had a particularly hard time differentiating between letters that looked the same or similar when flipped upside down. So for those letters I had to think of ways to show the difference. Little m is a mountain you can climb, little w is a well that can fill with water…etc. For these flashcards, I’ve used a picture and the letter (with dyslexic font) on the front, and the phrase to be said on the back. (Some cards have additional instruction, that could just be read sometimes, not every time)
Download tips:
This file is too big for Etsy, so you will receive a download link from Etsy that will take you to a pdf page where you can click my download link to get your file. Once opened, save it to your device.
Printing tips:
These will need to be printed double sided (printed on both front and back) so that the instruction for each card is on the back of the card. Cardstock is recommended. All printers are different but mine won’t print double sided on heavy cardstock (it jams!) Yours may be fine, but I just wanted to give that heads up. You could also send it to a printing company. A straight paper cutter makes it easy to cut them out!
You can print as many of these as you’d like for your household, but please do not share or sell the file or printed materials with others.
